Karma officially launches the Revero: reveals interior, DC fast-charging & $130,000 price tag

After what the automaker called an “online unveiling” last month for its new Revero, a plug-in sedan based on the defunct Fisker Karma, Karma Automotive officially launches the Revero today. For the occasion, the company released all the specs of its plug-in hybrid and it revealed an updated interior.

First surprise, the Revero actually starts at $130,000 and not $115,000 as previously thought. How does Karma justify the price tag? After all, for the same price you can get a Tesla Model S P100D that can go 0 to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds and has a range of 315 miles.

The company is betting on its new revamped interior featuring a more luxurious look and unique features like reclaimed wood from different sources resulting in interior wood trim “straight from nature”.

The infotainment system also received a complete redesign from the original Fisker and the vehicle now has the capacity to receive over-the-air software updates. It looks like one of the first updates to come will be to support both Apple Car Play and Android Auto coming in 2017, according to the company.

Karma released pictures of the interior for the first time:

As for the powertrain, Karma is predicting an all-electric range of about 50 miles on the 21.4 kWh LiFePO battery pack mounted in the center of the vehicle – like in the original Fisker Karma. The gas engine can bring the range up to about 300 miles.

The Revero can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds and it features a software-limited top speed of 125 mph.

A surprise with the official launch, Karma is adding the capability for DC fast-charging up to 40 kW. The automaker says that it bring the State Of Charge to 80% in 24 minutes on 480 V at 110 amps.

Karma plans to start production by the end of the year with a slow ramp up – starting with about 900 Reveros during its first year of production.
