The M2S All Terrain R750 sits in the sweet spot of off-road, comfort, and commuting. The price is great, too, starting at $1,499 (early adopter pricing has concluded).

M2S has made great choices on components and price, making a down-to-business bike without adding frills that often bulk up the price. The R750 has a plentiful amount of electric power, which is paired especially well with the size.

A new Vancouver based e-bike company has created mid-priced electric comfort bikes capable of 120 miles of range.

Dōst Bikes (rhymes with “coast”) has a simple solution to range anxiety; double the battery size.

While it’s not the first dual-battery iteration we’ve seen, it’s the first time I’ve seen it on comfort commuters that maintain a wide variety of uses.

The Electra Vale Go! is a capable comfort commuter electric bike with a couple surprises. The look is very functional and attractive, and the performance and ease of use make the bike a treat to ride. As a comfort commuter, there are a few shortcomings that only apply to limited cases, and I think those compromises are understandable.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has proposed leasing two-thirds of Slickrock for oil and gas drilling, even though it has very low potential to produce.

The world-famous, nearly 11 mile-long, mountain-biking Slickrock trail near Moab, Utah, takes e-bike and non-e-bike riders over stunning petrified sand dunes and sea bed remnants.

Furo Systems has a very bold take on the “last-mile” electric bike. Imagine everything that makes a good last-mile option, and focus only on that.

The eTura is wonderfully tailor-made for last-mile commutes, but use the bike for any any other purpose, and the seams start to show.

The team at GoCycle has found the sweet spot of features and practicality with the GX model they’ve dubbed “The Fast Folder“. This is easily the cleanest bike I’ve ever ridden, and the lightweight frame, customizable power output, truly ground-up design, and spacey looks are very unique. While not as feature-rich as the rest of the GoCycle lineup, it has the right amount of changes to make it a mainstay as a high-end folding commuter.

Mid-interview, I suddenly hear babbling noises come over the line.

“Sorry, I’m here. I’m just holding a baby while another one watches cartoons in the background,” Julie Kronstrøm reassured me.

In addition to being a full-time entrepreneur, Julie is a single mother to three kids. That’s certainly a feat by itself, but why am I interviewing her for Electrek?

Because along with her brother Christian Adel Michael, Julie crowdfunded over $21 million selling electric bicycles in two campaigns on Indiegogo, and I want to know how. And why. And… what!?

Bosch’s PowerTube batteries aren’t the first e-bike in-tube batteries by a long shot, but because Bosch maintains such a big share of the premium e-bike market, the new in-tube variant of their 500Wh batteries allow premium brand bikes to hide their power source better. And that means better looking and performing bikes.

We reviewed the Trek Supercommuter 8 last year which had Bosch’s old battery system, still integrated into the frame, and thought the $5000 price tag was tough to swallow, even for the premium components and experience. But we’re going to step it up a notch today with the dual Bosch PowerTube batteries (1kWh total) Riese & Müller Supercharger which we got on loan from Propel bikes in Brooklyn/Long Beach that retails for around $7000 kitted out.

As we’ve reported previously, the Trump administration’s trade war has recently entangled electric bicycles, among other products, in billions of dollars worth of trade tariffs with China.

Now American electric bicycle companies are responding about how this could impact their businesses, generally for the worst. expand full story

What do you get when you combine the buoyancy of a boat, the power of an electric bicycle and the efficiency of hyrdofoils? An awesome new way to zip across the water, apparently.

The Hydrofoiler XE-1 is just that: part electric bicycle, part watercraft. Designed by New Zealand startup Manta5, the XE-1 is built on an aluminum frame with carbon fiber hydrofoils and propellor that lift the craft out of the water as you pick up speed. expand full story
